The establishment of its ICD closest to Chennai is the FIRST and ONLY Inland Container Depot Under the direct jurisdiction of Chennai Customs, spread over 20 Acres of Land at SIPCOT Industrial Park, Irungattukottai operating at a project cost of Rs.125 Crores.

ICD location & infrastructure under Singe Roof is well defined to offer comprehensive services to the trade, can handle appx.6000 TEU’s per Month including Bonded/General / High tech warehousing facility and JIT deliveries to the Industries.
1. ICD-Irungattukottai is the first ever ICD, closer to Chennai, under Chennai Customs.
2. Added advantages as compared to CFSs, since pre-documentation (assessment/appraising) and post documentation (inspection and delivery) all under one roof.
3. All types of Bills of Entry and Shipping Bills can be processed at ICD. Quick; post import endorsement, export benefits and duty drawback disbursements.
4. Direct container movement from Ship’s hook point to ICD. Reduces, lead time.
5. Export consolidations, CE/Self seal verification process and last hr. vessel connection for the ICD moved export containers.
6. ICD processing, is cost effective and avoids multi handling, damages, & pilferages.
7. Immediate movement of Air Cargo (ULDs) from airport Tarmac to ICD Delivery within shortest possible time.
8. EDI connectivity at ICD is under process and will be established soon. Till then documentation/operations are on at ICD as usual.
9. Dedicated own fleet of trailers for transportation for round the clock operations.
10. Free days & Storage advantages and in-house Custom Bonded warehouse, Hi-tech warehousing & distribution.
